Tyranni (Suboscines)

The Suboscines (Tyranni) are a clade of passerine birds which includes 14 families with > 1,000 species, mostly found in the Neotropics. The suboscine passerines are more primitive in behaviour and anatomy than the oscines (or songbirds). They have a simpler syrinx (voice box) than the oscines, and hence less-developed songs, often with mechanical sounding.
