The Crabronidae are a large paraphyletic group of wasps (formerly included in the Sphecidae) with 8 subfamilies, over 200 genera and ca. 9,000 species; distributed nearly worldwide. Several of the subfamilies of Crabronidae are often elevated to families in their own.
