Anartia jatrophae is found in the southeastern United States, the West Indies, Central America, and throughout much of tropical South America. This species is usually seen in open areas near water, in old fields and along forest edges. The caterpillar feeds on Bacopa, Ruellia, Phyla, and Lippia spp. Adults drink nectar from Bidens, Cordia, Casearia spp., etc. The White Peacock flies throughout the year in South Texas and in the tropics.
