Lucifer Sphinx (Amphonyx lucifer)

Synonyms: Cocytius lucifer, Cocytius macasensis |
Amphonyx lucifer is found in the tropical Americas, from Mexico to northern Argentina. The forewing is gray, with greenish tint; two distinct black dashes in the centre. The wingspan is 140-180 mm. Adults nectar at a variety of flowers; the larvae feed on plants in the Annonaceae family, including Annona and Desmopsis spp.
