Acrididae - Short-horned Grasshoppers |
The Acrididae contains six sub-families and ca. 11,000 species of short-horned grasshoppers; it is the largest family of the Orthoptera. The family includes many familiar grasshoppers, including true locusts. Most short-horned grasshoppers inhabit open habitats and are diurnal. They are distributed worldwide.
