Bobcat (Lynx rufus) (Schreber, 1777)

 

Synonyms: Felis rufus

 

 

Lynx rufus occurs in southern Canada, and throughout the United States and Mexico. It inhabits forests, swamps, scrublands, grasslands, and deserts; cultivated areas are generally avoided. Bobcat hunts primarily rabbits and hares, but also feeds on small rodents, birds, and young ungulates.
