Porphyrostachys parviflora (C. Schweinfurth 1941)

 

Synonyms: Stenoptera parviflora, Stenoptera pilifera var. parviflora

 

Porphyrostachys parviflora is a rare orchid restricted to the Andes of central Peru (Ancash, Cajamarca, Huanuco, and La Libertad departments) where it grows at altitudes 2,500-3,100 m. This photograph was taken near Monterrey (Huaraz Province).
