Black-horned Capuchin occurs in lowland, submontane and montane forests of south-eastern Brazil and north-eastern Argentina (Misiones Province). It feeds on a wide variety of fruits, seeds, arthropods, and small vertebrates. Sapajus nigritus is considered near-threatened and its populations are declining. This species was formerly included in the Tufted Capuchin (Sapajus apella).
