Lytta sayi occurs in north-eastern North America; mostly in the Great Lakes Region, the Maritime provinces of Canada, and New England. This is metallic green beetle, with orange tibiae and black tarsi; 13-22 mm in length. Active from mid-May through July. The adults feed on flowers of willows (Salix spp.), rose (Rosa spp.) and locust (Robinia spp.); the larvae are parasites in nests of the sweat bees (e.g., Agapostemon virescens).
