Meloe cicatricosus Leach, 1815 [Scarred Blister Beetle]

 

Synonyms: Meloegonius cicatricosus, Meloe cicatricosa, Meloe ineditus, Meloe variolosus, Meloe iluronensis, Meloe radiatopunctatus

 

 

Meloe cicatricosus ranges from central Europe to Siberia, and south to Asia Minor, Iran, and Nepal. It inhabits steppes and semi-deserts; adults feed on leaves and other plant parts. This flightless beetle is now rare in Europe due to habitat loss.
