Leafhoppers (Cicadellidae) |
The Cicadellidae are the second-largest hemipteran family with 25-40 subfamilies, over 1,000 genera, and ca, 22,000 described species. They are distributed in tropical and temperate areas nearly worldwide. These are minute insects (2-30 mm), drab or colourful; the hind legs are modified for jumping. Leafhoppers feed on sap of grass, shrubs, or trees.
