Cynoglossum officinale is an annual or biennial herb found in most parts of Europe, Siberia, and Central Asia; introduced in North America. It mostly grows in riparian habitats, forest clearings, dry slopes, hedges, roadsides, and old fields. The flowers are reddish-purple, rarely white; it blooms between May and September.
