The Convolvulaceae grow in tropical and temperate forests, savannas, riverine habitats, and in open disturbed vegetation. The flowers are funnel-shaped, radially symmetrical, with five sepals and five fused petals. The leaves are simple and alternate. In parasitic species leaves are reduced to scales.
