Michaux, 1803

Pinguicula pumila is a carnivorous plant found on the coastal plain of southeastern United States (from East Texas to North Carolina, and throughout Florida). It grows in moist, sandy soil in pinelands and savannas. Perennial; leaves are yellowish-green, entire with inward curling margins; in basal rosettes of 20-25 mm across;  leaves contain glands secreting a sticky substance that traps and digest insects and other invertebrates. Single zygomorphic flower, pale violet to nearly white (rarely pale yellow), born at the end of pedicel.
