Utricularia intermedia is a perennial aquatic herb with submerged stems, leaves, bladders, and emergent flowers. This species is circumboreal, i.e., found in temperate zones of both North America and Eurasia. It grows in shallow water of lakes, marshes, bogs, etc. The threadlike leaves have small bladders on them that trap very small invertebrates, by suction.
