Maianthemum stellatum is a woodland herbaceous perennial plant, widely distributed across North America, from Alaska to California in the west, and east to Newfoundland and North Carolina; this species also ranges into the mountains of northern Mexico. Under the new taxonomy this genus is included in Asparagaceae or Ruscaceae. It was formerly included in Convallariaceae.
