Physocarpus opulifolius is a shrub found in eastern North America. Its native distribution extends from Ontario and Quebec south to Florida, west to Colorado, and east to the Atlantic seaboard. This species grows on rocky shores and hillsides, along stream banks, and in moist thickets; from sea level to 1,300 m. Eastern Ninebark blooms in May and June, and fruits from July to October.
