Waldsteinia fragarioides is a low, spreading herb with yellow flowers, which is native to eastern North America (from Minnesota, Ontario, and Quebec, south to North Carolina and Tennessee). This species occurs in a wide variety of habitats, including coniferous, deciduous, and mixed forest, thickets, and clearings on sandy, rocky or alluvial soils; also in barrens, talus slopes, bluffs, etc.; from sea level to 600 m. It flowers in April and May.
