Solanaceae (Nightshade or Potato) |
The Solanaceae contains 115 genera and ca. 2,680 species of annual and perennial herbs, vines, lianas, shrubs, and trees. They are distributed worldwide, except Antarctica; the greatest diversity of species is found in Central and South America. This family includes a number of important agricultural crops (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, and peppers), as well as toxic species.
