The Colubrinae are the largest subfamily of the Colubridae. It includes 50 to 100 genera with at least 300-500 species, although taxonomic deliberations on the extent of the Colubrinae are ongoing. The subfamily includes many familiar genera, including racers, coachwhips, bullsnakes, rat snakes, milk snakes, king snakes, indigo snakes, etc.
