Papilio anchisiades is found in the Americas, from southern Texas to Argentina. The caterpillar feeds on various species of the Rutaceae family, including Citrus, Zanthoxylum and Casimiroa spp. The adults drink nectar of a variety of flowers. Subspecies Papilio anchisiades capys (Hübner, 1809) occurs in the eastern Brazil, Paraguay and northern Argentina.
