The Swallowtails are large, colorful butterflies with characteristic elongated tails at the tip of the hind wings in most species. The family inhabit every continent except Antarctica, but reaches the greatest diversity in the tropics and subtropics, particularly in the South-East Asia. The family contains 3 extant subfamilies, 30 genera, and over 550 species.
