Thrinax albidopicta

Thrinax albidopicta is a sawfly found in southern Canada and the mid-western and eastern United States. The adults are 6-7 mm in length. The head, thorax, and the antennae are black; the abdomen is black and rufous. The legs are mainly orange-yellow with some white and black segments. The larva is light green; the head is brownish with black patches, including a large triangular one on the top of the head. Larvae feed on ferns, including Sensitive Fern (Onoclea sensibilis), and Osmunda spp.
