Feather-legged Scoliid Wasp (Dielis plumipes) (Drury, 1770)

 

Synonyms:Campsomeris plumipes, Sphex plumipes

 

Dielis plumipes is found in North America east of the Rocky Mountains. Medium-sized (15-25 mm) hairy wasp with yellow or creamy white bands on the abdomen. 3 subspecies. Adults feed on nectar, e.g., of the Lamiaceae.
