Snout Butterflies (Libytheinae)

The Libytheinae are a small subfamily of the Nymphalidae; it contains 2 genera and 13 species found in the temperate and tropical regions of both hemispheres. These are medium-sized drab-brown butterflies. The vernacular name refers to the long palpi extending forward from the head. The wings are cryptically patterned on the underside.
