Two-banded Satyr (Pareuptychia ocirrhoe) (Fabricius, 1776)

 

Synonyms: Cissia hesione, Euptychia ocirrhoe, Euptychia ocirrhoe, Euptychia hesione, Pareuptychia bivari, Banded White Ringlet, White Satyr

 

 

Pareuptychia ocirrhoe is distributed from eastern Mexico to northern Argentina, and in Trinidad and Tobago. These butterflies inhabit edges of lowland tropical rainforest and cloud forest; sea level to 1,900 m. The wingspan is 35-37 mm. Adults feed on rotting fruit and fungi, and the caterpillar on blades of Eleusine spp. (Poaceae).
