Slug Caterpillar Moths
(Limacodidae)

The Limacodidae (or Euclidae) include ca. 400 genera and at least 1,000 species. The family is distributed nearly worldwide, but is most diverse in the tropics. These are small to medium-sized moths (wingspan 15-43 mm) with stout, hairy bodies, broad, rounded wings, and reduced or absent mouthparts. Most are brown or yellowish, often with white or green forewing markings; some are bee mimics. The larvae are flattened, have suckers (instead of prolegs) and stinging hairs.
