Silky Pocket Mouse (Perognathus flavus)

 

 

Perognathus flavus is found in central and southern Great Plains in the United States (from South Dakota to Arizona and Texas), and throughout the Mexican Plateau. It occurs in semi-arid or arid grasslands and shrublands. Silky Pocket Mouse feeds on seeds and other parts of plants, and carries food in its cheek pouches.
