Northwestern Crow (Corvus caurinus) Baird, 1858 |
The Northwestern Crow is very similar to the more widespread American Crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos), although Corvus caurinus is slightly smaller, with proportionately smaller feet and a more slender bill. This species inhabits the Pacific coasts of northwestern North America, from southern Alaska to Washington State. The Northwestern Crow forages along the shoreline, hunting terrestrial and marine invertebrates, and scavenging for stranded fish, carrion, and refuse, e.g., around human dwellings.
