Common Raven (Corvus corax) |
The Common Raven (Corvus corax) is one of the largest members of the crow family. It is the most widely distributed of all corvids, ranging from Arctic and temperate habitats in North America and Eurasia to the mountains of North Africa, northwestern India, Tibet, and Mexico. Common Ravens nest in trees and cliffs along coasts, in forests, mountains, grasslands and deserts. Abandoned raven nests provide nesting sites for bird species which do not build nests of their own, such as small falcons and owls. The Common Raven is omnivorous, feeding on carrion, food scraps, insects, grains, berries, but it is also capable of catching small animals.
