Nasutitermes ephratae (Holmgren, 1910) |
Synonyms: Eutermes ephratae, Nasutitermes creolina, Eutermes klinckowstroemi |
Nasutitermes ephratae has distinctive external nest architecture. Its nests are lighter brown in color, and distinctly smoother than nests of Nasutitermes corniger, and have a leathery appearance. Additionally, nests of this species are more evenly spherical or ellipsoidal than N. corniger nests. Nasutitermes ephratae inhabits Neotropical lowlands from southern Mexico to Amazonia, and also in the Lesser Antilles, and Trinidad and Tobago. We do not have images of this species other than its nest.
