Ensign Wasps (Evaniidae)

 

The Evaniidae encompass ca. 20 genera and over 400 species of parasitoid hymenopterans (ensign wasps, nightshade wasps, and hatchet wasps). These wasps lay eggs into egg capsules of cockroaches (Blattoidea), and larvae feed on cockroach eggs. The Evaniidae occur throughout the world except in the polar regions.
