Synonyms (after Ardila-Camacho and Garcia 2015): Mantispa batesella, Mantispa limbata, Entanoneura picta, Entanoneura chopardi, Entanoneura jocosa, Entanoneura similis |
Entanoneura batesella ranges throughout Neotropical lowlands, from Mexico and Central America to south to Santa Catarina in SE Brazil; between 0 and 200 m asl. Although widely distributed, this species is not as common as other mantispids. Virtually nothing is known about its natural history, except that it is attracted to lights and was collected throughout the year. This Entanoneura batesella has been photographed close to a wetland surrounded by secondary and man-modified habitats. Larvae of other mantispids are parasites of insects and spiders.
