Spider Monkeys and Howlers (Atelidae) |
The Atelidae includes two subfamilies, 5 genera and 29 species of larger New World monkeys. They were formerly included in the Cebidae. Atelids inhabit tropical and subtropical forests of the Americas, from central Mexico to northern Argentina. They feed mostly on fruit and leaves. These monkeys are arboreal and diurnal.
