Sirenians (Sirenia)

 

The Sirenia (the sea-cows or sirenians) contains two contemporary families of herbivorous aquatic mammals: Dugongidae (the dugong) and Trichechidae (manatees, 3 species). The sirenians are found in shallow seas, estuaries, rivers, and swamps.
