Apocynum androsaemifolium is a perennial herb widely distributed in North America; from Alaska, throughout most of Canada and the United States, south to northeast Mexico. It grows on dry sandy or gravelly soils along forest edges, in rocky woodlands, savannas, prairies, stabilized sand dunes, old fields, roadsides, etc. This species benefits from logging activities and wildfires. It has light green to red stems, oval leaves, and small, bell-shaped, white flowers with light pink stripes. A. androsaemifolium blooms from June through August. The sap of this species is toxic to humans, livestock, and other mammals.
