Monarda punctata is a perennial herb native to southern Canada (Ontario and Quebec), the eastern United States and northeastern Mexico. It typically grows on sandy soils on prairies, coastal plains, oak savanna, in both disturbed and high quality habitats. It blooms from May through July. The small yellow flowers are arranged in cymes above rosettes of large white bracts.
