Lamiaceae (Mint) |
The Lamiaceae have a cosmopolitan distribution and contains 245 genera and 7,886 species of herbs, shrubs, trees, and vines. The flowers are bilaterally symmetrical with five united petals and five united sepals, fused into an upper lip and a lower lip. The leaves are opposite or whorled. Many members of the family (basil, mint, rosemary, oregano, etc.) are widely cultivated for their aromatic qualities.
