Centipedes (Chilopoda) are a class of predominantly carnivorous myriapods. They have elongated segmented bodies with one pair of legs per body segment, unlike the millipedes. All centipedes have a pair of forcipules, pincer-like forelegs, capable of injecting venom; some species are highly venomous.
