Admirals (Limenitidinae)

The Limenitidinae are a subfamily of the brush-footed butterflies (Nymphalidae). They are widely distributed throughout the world, but best represented in Asia and Africa. The subfamily includes four tribes and ca. 45 genera; only two genera are represented in the Americas. The common names of many species include military ranks or titles of nobility.
