Apidae - Bees |
The Apidae is the largest family within the Apoidea, with >200 genera and 5,750 species. The family includes honey bees, bumblebees, stingless bees, carpenter bees, orchid bees, cuckoo bees, etc. They are distributed worldwide. Many species are important pollinators of wild plants and cultivated species. Honey bees, bumblebees, and stingless bees are social, but the vast majority of apid bees are solitary, including a number of cleptoparasitic species.
