The Mustelidae is the largest family in the order Carnivora; it contains two to eight subfamilies, 26 genera and 71 living species. The family includes weasels, martens, mink, badgers, wolverines, otters, and skunks. The skunks are sometimes placed into the family of their own, the Mephitidae.
