The Pocket-Gophers, frequently referred to as “gophers”, are burrowing rodents of the family Geomyidae, commonly known for their extensive tunneling activities. They are aptly named for their external, fur-lined cheek pouches. Geomyidae is confined to North and Central America; it contains 6 genera and 35 species.
